NASA’s Aqua satellite captured thick haze in Northern India in Nov. 2023.

Punjab State of India is known as India’s largest breadbasket which turns also to the largest producer of air pollution in October and November. Punjab farmers adopt double cropping system and grow rice in May through September and wheat in November through April. In October farmers burn the leftover debris after rice harvest, and thousands of fires burn across the state.
The local scenery on the ground is as follows.
