ESA’s Copernicus Sentinel-2 captured Helsinki, the capital of Finland.

Located on the shore of the Gulf of Finland, Helsinki is the seat of the Uusimaa region in southern Finland and has a population of 673,011, and the Greater Helsinki Metropolitan Area population of 1.5 million, making it by far the most populous urban area in Finland and the country’s most important center for politics, education, finance, culture and research. Known as the “Daughter of the Baltic” or the “Pearl of the Baltic”, Helsinki is located at the tip of a peninsula and on 315 islands. Helsinki is located 8km north of Tallinn, Estonia, 400km east of Stockholm, Sweden, and 300km west of Saint Petersburg, Russia. It has close historical links with these three cities.
