On Sept. 24, 2025, a powerful storm Typhoon Ragasa dumped torrential rain on Taiwan’s eastern region, resulting in the deaths of 14 people. The downpour caused a barrier lake in the eastern county of Hualien to overflow and fire authorities revised the death toll down from 17 to 14, citing duplicated information.

The local scenery on the ground is as follows.
